About Us

Local Committee (LC) Udupi was established in 2025 by a group of passionate students from Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) under the leadership of Devangi Singh, after successfully hosting Schoolday 2024 in the region. LC Udupi includes members from Manipal Institute of Applied Physics(MIAP) and Manipal Institute of Technology(MIT) who take interest in diverse fields of physics on a spectrum from theoretical astrophysics to condensed matter and biophysics. LC Udupi is the first local committee to be established in South India, and aspires to popularise physics in the Udupi-Manipal region.

   School Day 2024

Schoolday 2024 was organised on 4th November 2024 at Madhav Kripa School, Manipal by INPS members who later founded LC Udupi in the following months. The event based on the theme of Crystallography  saw the participation of over 180 Highschool students studying in grade 9th and 10th.

The participants were presented with a talk on Crystallography by Ms. Tripthi Shenoy , Research Scholar , MIAP-MAHE. They were then shown intriguing demonstrations viz. Crystal Microscopy, Instant Crystallization , Visualization of annealing in metals, Understanding crystal defects through an interactive game, Triboluminescence, Resonance Patterns.  These demonstrations were innovative as well as budget friendly. The students also competed in a quiz based on Crystallography and received prizes.
