The Treasurer is the chief financial officer of the organization, responsible for overseeing all financial administration, planning, and reporting to ensure the organization's fiscal health and integrity.
Financial Strategy & Policy
Develops and oversees the implementation of the organization's financial policies and procedures.
Advises the Executive Committee (EC) on the financial implications of strategic plans and operational decisions.
Leads fundraising initiatives, including procuring funds and grants from external agencies through strategic collaborations.
Formulates strategies for membership fees, financial incentives, and the systematic allocation of funds, based on comprehensive financial analysis.
Budgeting & Reporting
Prepares, monitors, and facilitates the annual budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
Presents budgets, financial statements, and account summaries to the EC and at General Meetings, with clear justifications for all figures.
Delivers timely financial reports after every event and ensures all required statutory forms are completed and submitted.
Financial Operations & Management
Manages all day-to-day financial affairs, including banking, cash flow management, and statement reconciliation.
Maintains a precise and consistently updated ledger of all income and expenses.
Directly manages all organizational funds, including grants, membership dues, and participation fees.
Processes all financial requests, including grant applications and expense reimbursement forms for EC members and volunteers.
Compliance & Governance
Ensures all financial activities and record-keeping strictly adhere to the requirements of funders and statutory bodies.
Guarantees full compliance with all relevant legislation, specifically the Societies Registration Act (1860).
Establishes and monitors internal controls to ensure proper documentation and record-keeping by anyone handling the organization's funds.
